Kristy Holsopple

Owner / Quality Manager

Kristy Holsopple started a beverage alcohol career in 2002 and has gained extensive knowledge in brewing production, packaging, and microbiological quality control in roles at Samuel Adams, Miller, and Full Sail Brewing. Brown-Forman hired her as a microbiologist, which brought her to Louisville in 2011. A devoted mother of two boys, Kristy enjoys spending time with family and traveling.

Sam Gambill

Owner / Brewmaster

Sam Gambill conducted research on fiber content in beer and received a master’s degree in food science from UC Davis. His career in brewing and distilled spirits spans roles at Firestone Walker, Miller, and Buffalo Trace. Sam’s experience in project management and production helped make the creation of Holsopple Brewing possible. Sam has been happily married to Kristy since 2010 and enjoys playing the guitar in his free time.

Michael Whitman

Head Brewer

Michael started at Holsopple Brewing in 2017 and became Head Brewer in 2018. He previously lived in Denver, CO where he volunteered at Station 26 Brewing Co., and was a founding member of the OG Homebrewers club. Commercial brewing is a second career for Michael, who previously worked for the two national church denominations  after graduating from the Presbyterian seminary here in Louisville. He is married to his wife, Alicia, and his six-year-old daughter is a frequent “helper” in the brewhouse on the weekends.

Olivia Borders

Taproom Manager

Olivia Borders has enjoyed diverse cultures living in Ohio, New York, and now Kentucky after moving to Louisville in 2002. Her 14 years of experience in the food service industry helps mold the culture of a fun, responsible, and family friendly environment at Holsopple Brewing’s Taproom. Admittedly, Olivia preferred cider and spirits before working at Holsopple, but now she is a purveyor of craft beer and enjoys visiting other breweries to expand her palette.
